Spirituality and the Pursuit of Authenticity- Striving Styles Lecture Series

Spirituality has many different meanings all over the world. Often it is associated with religion, while in other cases spirituality is kept quite distinct from religion. Spirituality is a deeply personal thing, which is why it fits into nearly every perspective, whether it is an established belief system or not.

Most people are concerned with their spirituality, purpose, meaning, and authenticity as it relates to their lives. Living a spiritual life requires that we develop our innate spiritual capacities through a process of self-awareness, existentialism, religiosity and life purpose, values, and commitment to self-actualization. Self-awareness is the first step. What approach to living a spiritual life will allow the authentic expression of your nature and meet the need of your personality? How do we know which spiritual path is right for us? Will it be through devotion? By practicing religious norms? Through meditation? Through art?

Our personality organization, including the dominant need of our Striving Style, has a great deal to do with the way we approach our spiritual life. The need of our Striving Style must be met in the way we integrate our spiritual practices into our lives. By being more aware of ourselves, each of us is better able to meet our needs through our spiritual practices.

The Striving Styles System™, an evolution of Carl Jung’s Psychological Type, is an easy, yet profound way of understanding the nature of different personalities and the predominant need that must be met for each Style. The predominant need must be satisfied as it drives behaviour and ensures psychological balance. The system focuses on eight distinct needs of personality: how they are prioritized, how each Style acts when self-actualizing and how behavior changes when being self-protective. Almost a century ago, Jung proposed a spiritual psychology, indicating that our maturity as humans involved knowing and relating to our spiritual Self.

At this session, you will gain a better understanding of how you can meet your need to create meaning in your life through your spiritual practices based on your Striving Style. You will:
• Increase awareness of self and the authentic search for meaning in your Striving Style
• Understand the predominant need that seeks to be met through spiritual practice
• Discover your “Striving Style” and understand priority of needs based on the Striving Styles System™
• Validate yourself and your natural preferences and behaviors
