The End of An Eventful Week

PERSONAL GROWTH

The End of An Eventful Week

Over the past week, my life has been been hit by a unexpected force of nature, a result of an article about me in the New York Post. The energy wave that began with this short speculative article seemed to take on a life of its own, leading from one newslink to another, then a whole lot of twitters and other reactions to it. My phone and inbox have had more action than they have seen in years and I have done my best to keep up with them.

As Friday dawns and my energy wanes with the close of the week, I would like nothing better than to leave now for our cottage to restore myself and my equilibrium. Yet it is the beginning of the holidays, my daughter Heather’s birthday and my own as well. I have social commitments this weekend and shopping to do for Christmas. Clearly I am entering the season which requires extensive outputs of energy – social, emotional and financial – at a defecit. As my Striving Style is Visionary, my nature is more introverted to begin with and it requires more energy to get out of my head and put myself into life and relationships. I recognize that I am on the path to surviving the holidays instead of really thriving in them if I don’t do something immediately to restore my energy.

So instead of doing my normal morning writing, I will meditate longer, then take my dogs for a walk. I will then go to the gym, give myself a double dose of vitamins and monitor mindfully my thoughts about having too much on my plate. I will stay with thoughts that generate excitement about the holidays, envisioning all the fun I am going to have with friends, family and husband. And then there are the PRESENTS!!!!

During the next two weeks I will be writing more about the Holiday Styles and giving you tips on how what you can do to stay energized. Stay tuned.
