Let Me Help You, Please!

When we think about the Socializer Striving Style, with their predominant need to be connected, the Barbra Streisand song "People” (People Who Need People) comes to mind. Socializers are the “Weavers of the Social Fabric” in families, the workplace and in communities. They easily build and maintain positive relationships with a wide variety of people. They aim to be helpful and are enthusiastic, amiable, outgoing “people-people.” Their relationships are at the center of their lives and everything they do ensures their connection to others.

Are Clients Self-Protective Behaviors Getting in the Way?

I often hear coaches, consultants or psychotherapists speak about clients out of frustration because they can't get their clients to change their behavior. While they try different approaches, tools and techniques, ultimately they can decide that their clients “Just aren’t ready.” “They didn’t want to change badly enough.” Or they conclude that they are “too narcissistic, too controlling or too arrogant” to change.

Who Are You Meant to Be? It’s Time to Regroup and Find Out!

Life has a way of keeping us so busy, jumping from one role to the next, that we forget who we are and who we are meant to be. Too often we get stuck in ruts, shifting in and out of professional, relational and familial roles, while trying to be who others need us to be. Life becomes about survival and, as we struggle to simply stay afloat, we stop striving to achieve our full potential. We make decisions that are safe rather than in our best interest.

Are you Living Life on Autopilot?

With the hundreds of volumes that have been written on the ins and outs of personality, emotions, and behavior, how can it be that most of us know more about the basic features of our televisions or computers than we do about our own thoughts and feelings? A quick scan of the self-help section of any bookstore confirms it: we have more information at our fingertips on how to build self-awareness than we could ever read in a lifetime.

Closing the Knowing Doing Gap

Collectively, we love to learn about how to improve and develop ourselves. We watch shows, read books, and take courses because we want to learn how to change our behavior. There has never been a time in society when we have had more information about what it takes to maintain a healthy body, have effective relationships and be an influential, effective leader.
